I went to Whitnall Park today for the sole purpose of photographing bees. I threw on an extension tube and my home made ring light and headed for the wild flowers.
My favorite bee shot, is the top one. It has a nice clean background and the bee is in a nice position. The other ones have some busy backgrounds that are a little distracting.
The bees didn’t seem to care at all that I had a 12″ ring flash, inches away from them. Most of the other insects flew away before I was within my focusing distance. There was this one cooperative dragonfly though. Good guy. He’s on his way up from Peoria to visit an old larvamate that’s pinned in a display case near Green Bay.
