Tonight I headed out to Paradise Springs in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. I left home around 9:00 P.M. without a plan and that kinda shows in the resulting photographs. The above shot is the spring house, lit with to SB-600’s. One in the structure, and the obvious one on the left. I also used an LED worklight to add a touch of detail in foreground.
This one is also lit with two flashes. One is about three feet away, camera left. The second is about fifty feet away on a pier, lighting the tree on the right. I set the shutter speed at 1 sec. for both of these shots, for no particular reason. There really wasn’t any ambient light to worry about, and I thought a slower shutter speed would give me a little motion blur, because it was pretty windy. But, even at full power the flash duration was quick enough to freeze the motion in the trees.
This one here was a 30 sec. exposure. The sky glow is from the town of Eagle, about 1.5 miles away, but I don’t care much for it.
*A note to both my readers*
I’ve noticed in all my posts thus far, that the photos appear a bit on the dark side, but if you click on them so they open up in a shadowbox, the brightness looks more like what I’m seeing in Lightroom.
