This is an old railroad crane in Prairie Di Chien that has appeared on the blog before, but only a bit of the fuel system (scroll down). I make a point to stop by when I’m in the area, just to see if it’s still there. I keep trying to show off all the character this rusty machine has, but I haven’t done a very good job as of yet. That applies to what I’m posting today, too.  It hasn’t moved since I first saw it in 2010, and likely hasn’t been moved for many years before that. It’s been thoroughly scavenged and vandalized, and a nearby abandoned steel structure has been almost completely torn down, so I’m worried it’s days are numbered.

Coupled to the crane is an equally run-down passenger car. It’s also been on the blog before.

Here they are, just as they were 12,000 years ago when a receding glacier deposited them is this very spot.
