What you’re looking at is an inline processor for a Fuji Scanart 30 II black and white scanner. After five glorious years of service it retired to the garage in 1990. There it sat, until today. As my attempt to repair our circa 1996 processor failed, we dragged this one out, dusted it off and filled it with chemistry. I switched it on, and all the small plastic gears and rubber rollers creaked back to life. The first few scraps of film through were full of the twenty years worth of dirt and dried fixer on the rollers, but it cleaned up well.
Since this processor was never intended to be use as a stand-alone unit, we had to come up with a way to feed the film into it. This box is not in any way light proof. I have films with light streaks on them to prove it. And, it can’t support the weight of a cassette, hence the chair and paper box holding it up. Also, the dryer really doesn’t work well. The films are still very damp when they come out. But, for now anyway, we can produce film with only a moderate amount of hassle. So this thing fits in perfectly well with all the other shit here.
