I went up to the Horicon Marsh tonight, and the light was really nice. The water was lower than I’ve seen it in the past, exposing the stalks of last year’s aquatic plant life.
I bracketed this shot with the intention of blending them together with layer masks in Photoshop, but I liked this just as it was.
Just after sunset, even the truck looked good.
I’m not so sure about this guy, who doesn’t know what to do with himself in front of the camera (and for the most part, behind it).
The big bird up front is a sandhill crane. All the little black specks in the background are swallows, which came out in swarms after sunset, as did the mosquitoes.
It turns out Mayville had their fireworks show tonight. I was passing through just in time to catch them. This is the only photo I liked, more for the three people in the for ground than the fireworks. Unfortunately, the light needed to illuminate the foreground meant I had to have a few fireworks go off in a single frame, which left a hot spot up top. I probably could have cranked up the ISO and made something work, but I didn’t.
